YaYa Moves Into the Mansion

So The Kyle starts the morning griping about carrying YaYa's trunks through the back door of the Mansion. But Mel quickly reminds him "whenever I smell the trash, I think Elvis came in the back." Once the peices are arranged at the end of the Sheppard King Suite, we decide we are right at home at The Mansion.

After a delectable three-course lunch...I went with the sqaush soup, grilled prawns over white bean and fennel salad, and well I missed desert because that's when Missy, of course not pictured here (little weeny) gave the ladies the down-low on DIY flower arraning. She gave them the secret of the tape, how to cut, when to water and a few other tricks of the trade not for print. Sorry, but you can come to a workshop too.

Then the ladies moved out to the terrace to create their very own fall basket arrangements. It was absolutely the perfect day and the most exquisite setting. Another fine day at the Yaya's House.

Seriously...I almost forgot the best part of the day. Can you say Cham Cham???

Happy Halloween

It is perfect Texas weather for Halloween. Fall flowers have found their way into the cooler and the colors are so rich and deep. I love the way Missy touches flowers like they are pets or have fur instead of petals. Watching her pull stems from the cooler and seeing the piece take shape is nothing short of watching a painter take his brush to the canvas.

I love the way each flower has not only its own colors but its own personality. The hydrangea are so full and absolutely demand your attention. And dahlia’s...the show stoppers….might as well have their tops off. But then hanging amaranths lean over the edge of the glass so delicately and beg for something romantic to happen. And look at those scabiosa balls, just letting you know, "Hey, I'm here." Right?!?!

First Shot of Cherry Brandy

This morning Missy, TREX and the little one took the Yaya van to Highland Park for a 50th wedding anniversary. Weather changed the plans for our umbrella arrangements but nothing could put a damper on blue hydrangea, mokara orchids and of course a shot of cherry brandy roses.

The cuatro leches cake by LaDuni did not disappoint. Covered with a full stem of cymbidum orchids and yes, another shot of cherry brandy.
